This will be one of the 40th anniversary events of the Jazz Festival from 09 to 12/07, the coming in
exclusivity of this mezzo-soprano recognized as much for the lyric as for the jazz in the USA.
She has never walked a French jazz scene before this concert in the Var and will be
accompanied by a trio of regional musicians who opened the Nice Jazz Festival
in 2017! It all started with Erica’s radio interview with journalist Philippe
Déjardin at Midem 2017. When she comes back in 2018, she tells him about her desire
to play on the French Riviera. Nobody knows her yet but he thinks right away
to Laurent Rossi, Philippe Brassoud & Jérôme Achat to support him. Three
talented, generous and perfectionist musicians whom he has known and appreciated ever since
a few years in their Spirale Trio. This first private concert exceeds all
expectations despite the fact that they were playing together for the first time. Erica decides
that it will be this trio that will play with her in festivals in France.
She just released her 3rd Better Angels album, self-produced like the previous ones
but much more personal, she composed all the titles except this
surprising adaptation of La Bohême ”in both languages (English & French) in
tribute to Charles Aznavour whom she calls the „French Sinatra“. Naturally
she was unable to perform it in concert during this pandemic but she should
offer another title with La Bohême to the Var public.
If she was not very present on stage – and for good reason – she took the opportunity to
release a line of high-end, branded derivative objects for vocalists.
Child adopted in Louisiana, young black and left-handed, no one predicted a future for him
professional than in the orders or the army. But vocals and jazz are in her
DNA since her early childhood and she has managed to build a career on her own.
To discover the one who wishes to slip in the footsteps of Sarah Vaughan without imitating her naturally.
