The series about the legendary, beautiful, and iconic Empress Elisabeth of Austria is produced by RTL+ and Storyhouse. Beta Film is handling world sales as the international partner, who recently closed numerous deals for the hit-series and Austrian pubcaster ORF is back as broadcasting partner, as well.
Beta has sold the series all over the world, most recently to The Walt Disney Company and Mediaset for Spain, Starz Entertainment for Latin America, to Canada’s public broadcaster CBC and its streaming service CBC Gem, as well as to French-Canadian pubcaster Radio-Canada for its streaming service ICI TOU.TV and its TV channel ICI TÉLÉ.
The first season of Sisi scored record ratings on RTL+ and linear channel RTL as well as throughout Europe, most notably in France on TF1, Italy on Canale5, Hungary on RTL Hungary, Brasil on Globo Play, and throughout Eastern Europe on Viasat World’s Epic Drama channel, among others.
The second season of the glamorous period drama has just started filming in Latvia. Dominique Devenport (Night Train to Lisbon) and Jannik Schümann (Center of My World, Charité) will continue their journey as Austrian Empress and Emperor, confronted with new challenges and alliances to form. Hungarian Count Andrassy, played by Italian-French Actor Giovanni Funiati (Ku’damm 63), the main antagonist of the first season, is taking on a new role this time around.
Sven Bohse (Dark Woods) is sharing directing duties with Miguel Alexandre (Spy City) Hauke Bartel serves as RTL’s executive producer, as well as Markus Böhlke and Sylke Poensgen.
