Monaco: Signing ceremony of the commemorative plaque of the World Sports Capitals

On Tuesday, February 18, at the Prince's Palace, H.S.H. Prince Albert II presided over the official ceremony of signing the commemorative plaque of the World Capitals of Sport, in the presence of the highest Monegasque authorities and representatives of the Association of European Capitals of Sport (ACES), marking the designation of the Principality as World Capital of Sport 2025.

In the presence of Mrs. Isabelle Berro-Amadeï, Acting Minister of State, and Mr. Lionel
Beffre, Government Counselor – Minister of the Interior, this official signing of the commemorative plaque symbolizes Monaco’s commitment to the development of sport.
„Sport in the Principality knows how to assert its international influence with talent, because a City-State can be a global reference for ethical, sustainable, open and committed sport,“ stressed HSH the Sovereign Prince on this occasion. „I deeply believe in the positive and lasting impact of the sporting values ​​that I strive to convey through the various functions I occupy within the Sports Movement and the International Olympic Committee.“
As Counselor – Minister of External Relations and Cooperation, Mrs. Berro-Amadeï handed over the symbolic flag of the ACES to the Sovereign Prince, who immediately entrusted it to Mr. Lionel
Beffre, marking the official transfer of the title. The plaque was presented to Mr. Gianfranco
Lupattelli, President of ACES.
Designated World Capital of Sport after Sofia (Bulgaria) in 2024, Monaco is thus rewarded
for its commitment to sport for all, its modern infrastructure and its support for international competitions. This label will be visible throughout the year in the Principality, on the occasion of sporting events or celebrations such as the 40th anniversary of the Stade Louis II.
