Nice Jazz Festival comes back in 2021: These are the artists on the bill

From July 12 to 17, 2021, the City of Nice is happy to meet you, finally, to share this new edition of the Nice Jazz Festival. More than fifteen French and international artists will perform on the Masséna stage. Real moments of conviviality and sharing on the program, with, as every year, flamboyant concerts and exciting discoveries that make the Nice Jazz Festival the unmissable musical event of summer in Nice.

Catherine Ringer will open the Nice Jazz Festival with all her ardor, singing the Rita Mitsouko, and will share this evening with the very creative Christian Sands and the surprising Gogo Penguin. The mix of genres will be present the next day with Thomas Dutronc and his album of heady swinging covers, the elegant and sensual Cécile Mc Lorin Salvant and the incomparable Branford Marsalis.

Brad Mehldau Trio or true Everest of jazz will follow, which will host the evening of July 15 with the wonderful Angelique Kidjo, who combines traditional Benin music with Jazz, or Roberto Fonseca’s Cuban Symphony and its jazzy Cuban sounds, a creation of the festival that mobilizes in an unprecedented way a large number of artists from Nice (the Nice Philharmonic Orchestra, the Nice Jazz Orchestra, all under the direction of Pierre Bertrand).

Another feminine touch, Ayọ, full of freshness and spontaneity, will make you vibrate with its very Folk-soul hits. Not to mention Asaf Avidan, pure emotion, and Stefano Di Battista’s tribute to Ennio Morricone.

The closing night will be, as usual, eclectic, festive and memorable: Kyle Eastwood „Cinematic“, his melodic approach to Jazz through the revisiting of the film soundtracks, the bubbling Amazing Keystone Big Band who with his insolent virtuosity of today’s jazz, invited Hugh Coltman, China Moses and Anne Sila to the stage. And finally Woodkid, the multitalented French artist, is back after a seven-year absence.
